These "Snap-On" vent locks are constructed of stamped steel, and they come in an aluminum colored finish. These types of sliding window locks snap onto the lower inside rail, and they are designed to stop the sliding panel in place, providing a permanent stop position at a desired venting point. These locks fit on rail thicknesses ranging from 1/16 in. to 3/16 in. thick. They will work with most older metal-framed horizontal sliding windows, but not all of them. When used as a secondary lock, these locks can assist in the prevention of accidental opening of windows (by children), as they cannot be forced open.
