In 1906, the company began in Boston when waiter William Riley started building arch supports for people on their feet all day, like his fellow waiters and police officers. Soon he was making shoes, and in the late 1920s he created his first running shoes. In 1960, the company introduced the first running shoes in multiple widths, establishing New Balance's reputation for athletic footwear that can fit any foot perfectly and perform superbly with exceptional comfort and support. ps7232489
