Economy high-throughput tubes are designed for high volume users who usually analyze well characterized samples derived from large compound libraries, so the utmost performance from the NMR instrument is generally not required. As a result, some dimensional tolerances and quality control procedures for high-throughput NMR tubes can be relaxed in order to reduce manufacturing costs and provide a lower cost alternative to high volume users. MHz ratings are not assigned to high-throughput tubes because they cannot be expected to perform as well as a high MHz rated tube in demanding applications, even though they do otherwise perform very well in their intended application across a wide range of both low field low MHz and high field high MHz NMR instruments.
