Made in the USA by Condar, the Catalyst Experts. This combustor is for: Fireplace Xtordinair 36 Elite and 44 Elite. Ceramic catalyst measures 18 inches long by 3.6 inches wide by 3 inches thick. Chemically converts toxic chemicals from smoke into water vapor and heat. Generates more heat with less wood.Strategically placed in the smoke path inside a wood stove or insert, catalytic combustor causes smoke to burn as fuel. That means a wood stove can be burned slowly, transforming most energy stored in a log to the room as heat, instead of to the outside as air pollution. They also help prevent build up of hazardous creosote in chimney and flue. Condar recommends replacing your fireplace’s thermometer each time the combustor is replaced.
