It is designed for mounting on a DIN rail. The FLEXtra ¬ twinRepeater regenerates the electrical signal arriving on the bus line and retransmits it (bit reshaping and retransmission). The level, edge steepness, and mark-to-space ratio of the signals are reproduced exactly. It supports transmission rates from 9.6 kbps to 12 Mbps and automatically detects them. The twinRepeater offers an excellent method of extending the bus (up to 1 km with 2 FLEXtra ¬ twinRepeaters), increasing the number of nodes, and expanding the system. Moreover, it can be used in MPI networks. In particular, the FLEXtra ¬ twinRepeater can be used to implement spur lines as independent segments. The status LEDs integrated for each segment provide a clear overview of the current bus status. What is more, the FLEXtra ¬ twinRepeater electrically isolates the two PROFIBUS segments from each other. The twinRepeater also has a switch for deactivating the repeater function. This separates the segments, which nevertheless each remain able to function. PROFIBUS connectors are required for connection to the PROFIBUS cable.
